Why SIPs Beat Stick Frame for ADUs

Stick framing is the default. SIPs are the upgrade — and for ADUs specifically, the math works out clearly.

Speed: A SIPs shell goes up in a day. Stick framing the same footprint takes a crew days of field measuring, cutting, and assembly.

Insulation: SIPs integrate the structure and insulation in one panel — no thermal bridging from studs, no gaps from batts. The result is a tighter envelope with real-world R-values that meet or exceed California’s Title 24 energy code.

Waste: Panels are factory-cut to your design. What comes off the truck is what goes up — minimal jobsite scrap.
